July 21
8pm -
Amy was supposed to check in for induction,
but the hospital was busy and asked her to wait.
10pm Arrived at Hospital and given a room.

Friday, July 22
12:30am 31/2 cm and they started Pitocin

1:30am pain is at a 2 1/2 out of 10 and the
contractions are picking up.

2:30am Dan and Amy are both sleeping. The nurse
came in to increase the Pitocin. Amy's water didn't
break on it's own yet which slows down the labor.

3:30am and the nurse just bumped up the Pitocin
again. Baby's heartbeat is strong and steady and
Amy and Dan are still sleeping well.

4:30am  Amy woke up about 1/2 hour ago. Pitocin
has been increased again.  Pain is going up but is
still manageable.   Dr. came in. 4cm and 75%
efaced.   Amy and the doctor discussed whether to
break her water but decided against it for now. She
will try to go back to sleep for a while.

5am Pain had definitely increased and Amy is quite
uncomfortable.  She is now at 5cm.  We also
realized that the East Coast is now waking up since
facebook is active.

5:34am  Amy received some pain meds to take the
edge off since the contractions were coming fast
and very painful.  They ordered the epidural.  The
pain level went up so fast and the contractions were
so long and so close together,  that it caught Amy off
guard.

6am-6
:45am received an epidural but so far it
hasn't helped.   During one big contraction, Amy's
water broke.  7cm now at 6
:45am

At 6:50am things seemed to be moving quickly so I
called Robyn to tell her to come.

Amy was still in great pain and was wondering why
the epidural hadn't kicked in.

Around 6:55, the urge to push kicked in and Amy
started to yell (that is putting it mildly).  The nurse
came in, left and brought an entire staff back with
her. Amy was in quite a panic because she didn't
know what was going on, but they were very calm
and we realized later that they knew that the baby
was coming and they were preparing quickly.

7:02 - after just a couple of pushes, Channing was
born.   It was confusing, chaotic and 'noisy' and then
she was here!
1:30am and the contractions are getting stronger but Amy is
watching a movie.
3:30am  Even with the Pitocin being increased regularly, Amy is getting
some much needed rest.
